Last weekend, I had the pleasure and privilege of photographing the Erik Hite Foundation 5k Race and 2k Walk in Tucson, AZ! The EHF “is established to provide a child care center and family outreach programs that offer a safe and positive environment, as we follow godly principles and values, for the benefit of both commissioned and non-commissioned personnel employed by Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Personnel and their child(ren). As these employees serve and protect our community, we serve and care for their families.” They are one of the only organizations in the country to provide childcare to first responders until midnight everyday. A huge shout out to Nohemy and Minnette for organizing an awesome event! For an event this size, I’ve never experienced two leaders who communicated so efficiently and effectively!
I’ve photographed and participated in numerous races, but I’ve never seen the camaraderie and positivity amongst complete strangers as I witnessed at the EHF Annual Fun Run. Regardless of the uniform they were representing or the fallen they were memorializing, all of the participants, vendors, sponsors, etc were enthusiastic and happy. There were hugs, fist bumps,
handshakes, dancing and laughter seen and heard throughout Reid Park. For an event that was born out of tragedy, the result was truly inspiring and such a homage to Erik Hite’s legacy.
Thank you again to everyone who made this event possible! There were so much behind the scenes work from faceless individuals. A huge thanks specifically to The County Line for performing for everyone!
